Lets talk about vision problems associated with old age and how we can protect these precious senses as we age.

vision problems are very common in older adults due to aging processes. Here is a breakdown of these age-rated issues.

Age-Related vision problems.                                            1 Presbyopia                                                                                                  Gradual loss of ability to focus on close objects, typically starts in the early 40s

2 Cataracts                                                                                                    Clouding of the eye's lens, making vision blurry or dim, common after age 60.

3 Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD)                                              Affects central vision(reading, recognizing faces)

4 Glaucoma                                                                                                    Gradual damage to the optic nerve, often due to high eye pressure, can cause peripheral vision loss.

5 Diabetic Retinopathy                                                                                Common in older adults with diabetes, damages blood vessels in the retina, potentially causing blindness

Why it matters:                                                                                  Untreated vision problems in older adults can lead to increased risks of falls, cognitive decline or dementia, social isolation and depression.

How to protect our sense of vision                            1Get regular eye check-ups

2 Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes

3 Eat foods rich in vitamin A (like carrots) for better eye health.
