As we continue to explore diseases associated with old age, aging gracefully is the GOAL, Aging doesn't mean falling sick!

DIABETES. A chronic health condition that affects how you your body turns food into energy. It occurs when your blood sugar levels are too high because your body either doesn't produce enough insulin or can't use insulin properly.

Today we are discussing Type 2 diabetes which is the most common type, where the body becomes resistant to insulin or doesn't produce enough insulin.

Type 2 diabetes sneaks up on many older adults due to lifestyle habits. It can lead to kidney problems, nerve damage, hearing loss, cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer's disease and dementia, and even vision loss.

This is how we can prevent ourselves from Type 2 diabetes as we age.

  • Healthy diet, reduce sugar intake and eat fiber-rich foods.
  • Stay physically active to improve insulin sensitivity.
  • Get regular check ups to monitor blood sugar levels.

Yes, growing old brings health challenges, but with the right habits, you can age gracefully and stay vibrant. The secret? Eat well, move more, think positive, and stay connected!

Lets make old age a golden age!
